Who qualifies?
You’re a strong candidate if you:
Work remotely for a company based outside Colombia, or run your own online business serving foreign clients.
Can show steady monthly income from those foreign sources.
Hold valid international health insurance for your stay.

Valid passport with enough remaining validity.
Proof of remote work: employment contract/letter, or contracts and invoices if you’re a freelancer or business owner.
Bank statements (usually the last 3 months) showing steady income.
International health insurance covering illness, accidents, hospitalization and repatriation for your entire stay.
Motivation letter describing your remote activity (especially for entrepreneurs).

The income requirement is about 3× Colombia’s monthly minimum wage — in 2026, roughly USD 1,000–1,200 per month. It’s tied to the local minimum wage, so it changes every year; we confirm the current figure in your free check.

Can US citizens get the Colombia digital nomad visa?
Yes. US citizens — and nationals of Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia and most visa-exempt countries — qualify, as long as your income comes from outside Colombia. It’s one of the most popular routes for Americans who want to live in Colombia while keeping a remote job or US-based business.

Validity and the 180-day rule
The visa lasts up to 2 years and is renewable. As a V visa it limits your stay to 180 days per calendar year, and the time does not count toward permanent residency. If you want to settle long-term, a Migrant visa (Visa M) is the better path — we’ll plan it from day one.
